We attended the 17th annual Illinois River Balloonfest in tahlequah last Sat. It is the longest runnibg hot air balloon event in the state. I remember when it started in an open field east of town next to the river. It usually ended up wet and muddy. It has come a long way since that time and is now at the airport. Although you still can't beat mother nature. On Sat it was too windy for them to air up all of the balloons but they did air up the sponsor balloon just long enough to see how big they are. They were also able to give the helicopter rides. They did a glow of sorts with the baskets and propane torches instead of the balloon glow they had planned. There was a fireworks show to end the event. How often do you hear to windy in August in Oklahoma??
