Seattle ends Dallas' season with 2-1 win

Last Update: 10/25 12:27 am

The Seattle Sounders closed out their inaugural season in Major League Soccer with a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas at Qwest Field on Saturday night.

With the win, Seattle coach Sigi Schmid now owns the all-time mark for victories in MLS history with 125, breaking current U.S. national team coach Bob Bradley's record.

Seattle also eliminated FC Dallas from playoff contention with the victory.

Dallas actually went up 1-0 in the fourth minute when Atiba Harris knocked home a Daniel Hernandez service, but the Sounders scored two second-half goals to earn the victory.

Nate Jaqua got the equalizer in the 61st minute on a brilliant set up by Fredy Montero. After a buildup on the left side, Freddie Ljungberg crossed to the right side to Montero, who slide to knock the ball back across the goalmouth to Jaqua, who had an easy tap-in.

Ljungberg helped set up the go-ahead goal in the 84th minute as well when he crossed into the six-yard box to Brad Evans, who sneaked a shot past goalkeeper Dario Sala for his third goal of the season.

Seattle (12-7-11) now sits in second in the West ahead of the Sunday fixtures, while Dallas (11-13-6) closes out its season in second-to-last in the Western table.
