TULSA - Oklahoma Olympians is a series about athletes who were born here, lived here or went to school here.
Around here, most people know Danny Manning as the man on the sidelines for the Golden Hurricane basketball team.
Manning is in his second year as head coach at the University of Tulsa.
But he's also an Olympian.
Manning helped lead Team USA to a bronze medal in basketball in 1988 in Seoul, South Korea.
In fact, 1988 was a big year for Manning. He won an NCAA national championship as a Kansas Jayhawk, was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player and he was the number one pick in the NBA Draft.
Now, Tulsa's head coach is passing his knowledge and skills on to the next generation of Olympians right here in our own backyard.
The Sochi Olympic Games begin Feb. 6. Find out more in our special section on KJRH.com.
