Tulsa Oilers have new ownership, choose to stay in Tulsa

The Tulsa Oilers will start next season with new ownership and hope to usher in a new era for Tulsa hockey.

Steven Brothers Sports Management purchased the Central Hockey League team from Jeff Lund, who owned the Oilers for the past 14 years.

The Wichita-based company is adamant about keeping the franchise in Tulsa.

"We're here to own this business for a long time and we are 100 percent committed to this market," Rodney Steven said. "I think Tulsa should be one of  the best cities in AA hockey in the country."

The Steven Brothers own Oilers' CHL rival the Wichita Thunder. They bought the team in 2011 and had instant success playing in back-to-back CHL Finals.

Oilers' season tickets for the 2013-2014 season are on sale now.
