Sooners freshman will not participate in preseason practice opener

Oklahoma Football opens preseason practice Thursday but star freshman Joe Mixon, won't be there.
The program announcing Wednesday night that Mixon, who is accused of allegedly assaulting a woman last week at a Norman restaurant, has been suspended.
The statement, made via Twitter, reads: "Joe Mixon is not reporting for team activities at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation."
Bob Stoops spent Wednesday night at the Sooner Caravan stop in Oklahoma City, but refused to speak with the media and didn't comment on Mixon during the fan question-and-answer portion of the even.
Mixon has not been arrested. Norman Police told the Tulsa World Wednesday they are 'no closer to an arrest' and evidence likely won't be turned over to the Cleveland County District Attorney until 'late next week' or possibly even later.
