Kelvin Sampson to Houston Cougars? Reports indicate former OU basketball coach as candidate for job

University of Houston head basketball coach Jim Dickey has resigned and according to reports, former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Kelvin Sampson is a candidate to replace him.

Multiple reports including ESPN, have Sampson as being a top target to lead the Cougars.

Sampson led the Sooners from 1994 through 2006 before leaving Norman for the University of Indiana.

He coached the Hoosiers the next three seasons, but was forced to resign before the end of the 2008 season for recruiting violations.

Sampson has been an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets of the NBA since leaving the college ranks.

Dickey, a former assistant to Eddie Sutton at Oklahoma State, is leaving Houston with one year left on his contract for personal reasons.
