For most of the preseason, the storyline that dominated media coverage of Oklahoma State Football focused on who would start at quarterback for the Cowboys.
We are back where we started.
At his weekly press conference Monday, Mike Gundy refused to name a starter for Saturday's game at Iowa State.
Starter J.W. Walsh was benched in OSU's 24-10 defeat of TCU Saturday after going 9-of-18 for 115 yards and two interceptions. Senior Clint Chelf came on in relief, hitting 10-of-25 for 178 yards and only one pick. Offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich told the media Monday "neither quarterback was great."
Gundy says both quarterbacks will receive equal reps at practice this week and as the coaches gameplan for Iowa State, the quarterback who gives the team the best chance to win will get the start.
Walsh has started five of the Cowboys' six games this season, having taken over for Chelf mid-game in the Cowboys' season-opening win over Mississippi State and guiding Oklahoma State to wins over UTSA, Lamar and Kansas State from there (along with an upset defeat at West Virginia).
