Big 12 tournament: What the bracket would look like if the season ended today

We're still more than a week away from the end of the regular season, but it's never too early to start thinking about the Big 12 Championship, right?

The conference tournament is at Kansas City's Sprint Center March 13 through 16.

If the season ended today, here's a look at what the tournament would look like.

Wednesday, March 13, 2013

GAME 1
No. 8 Texas (13-15, 5-10) vs. No. 9 Texas Tech (9-17, 2-13)
6 p.m. Big 12 Network
Texas would play in only its fifth-ever first-round game, while Texas Tech would look to get above .500 in opening round action (7-7).

GAME 2
No. 7 West Virginia (13-15, 6-9) vs No. 10 TCU (10-18, 1-14)
8:30 p.m. Big 12 Network
Each in their inaugural season in the Big 12, West Virginia and TCU would face each other for a chance to move on.

GAME 3
No. 4 Iowa State (18-9, 9-6) vs No. 5 Oklahoma (19-9, 9-6)
11:30 a.m. ESPN2
Iowa State hopes to snap an 8-game tournament losing streak this year. Oklahoma is 1-1 all-time in the Big 12 Championship against Iowa State.

GAME 4
No. 1 Kansas (24-4, 12-3) vs GAME 1 winner
2 p.m. ESPN2
Kansas would be the No. 1 seed for the fifth-straight year and 10th time in 17 trips to the Big 12 Championship.

GAME 5
No. 2 Kansas State (23-5, 12-3) vs GAME 2 winner
6 p.m. Big 12 Network
The only other time Kansas State was as high as a 2-seed was in 2010 when they lost to No. 1 Kansas in the Big Championship final game.

GAME 6
No. 3 Oklahoma State (21-6, 11-4)  vs No. 6 Baylor (17-11, 8-7)
8:30 p.m. Big 12 Network
Baylor fell to 0-2 in Big 12 Championship final games last year vs Missouri. This would be Oklahoma State's highest seeding since their last tournament title in 2005.
