Danny Manning being targeted by Wake Forest for men's head basketball coach, according to ESPN

Could the successful second season Danny Manning and his basketball team enjoyed during the 2013-14 campaign earn the head coach a new job?

It might.

ESPN first reported Monday that Wake Forest has "significant interest" in Manning.

On Tuesday, CBSSports reported Manning met with Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman Monday.

There is no word on whether an offer has been made.

According to a school official, Manning met with TU president Stedman Upham and athletic director Derrick Gragg Tuesday and that the meeting "went very well."

Manning was the Conference USA coach of the year after leading his team to a share of the regular season championship.

TU won the C-USA tournament in El Paso and made it into the NCAA tournament for the first time in more than a decade. They lost to UCLA in the second round.
