A press conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Thunder's practice facility to make the official announcement.
Four-time MVP Lebron James, winner of the title in the previous two seasons, came in second. On Monday, James said Durant deserved the MVP honor.
"Much respect to him and he deserves it. He had a big-time MVP season," said James.
According to ESPN, KD is the first player to win both MVP and the scoring title in the same season since Allen Iverson's 2000-01 season.
