OKC Thunder MVP Kevin Durant withdraws from U.S. national team

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Kevin Durant has withdrawn from the U.S. national team, the biggest loss yet for a weakening American team.

The NBA's MVP informed USA Basketball today that he was "physically and mentally drained from the NBA season."

The Oklahoma City Thunder star's withdrawal comes less than a week after Indiana's Paul George suffered a broken right leg in practice.

Durant was the lone unanimous choice to the All-NBA first team as well as being chosen as2013-14 NBA MVP.
