The mountain terrain is estimated to be between 45 and 120 million years old. The park has natural ice fields and more than 1,000 glaciers. It also is home to Canada’s largest cave system, Castleguard.

More than 4 million people visit the park, making it on the world’s most-visited national parks. It is open year-round.
