Woman remains mum while wearing 'idiot' sign as punishment for passing bus on sidewalk

CLEVELAND - A 32-year-old woman who drove on the sidewalk to pass an Ohio school bus is staying mum as she stands on the sidewalk holding an "idiot" sign as punishment.

Shena Hardin got out of a car and nonchalantly lit up a cigarette as a horde of cameras and reporters circled her. However, she did not say sorry. In fact, she didn't say anything.

Barraged by questions from the media, Hardin was silent, head tilted down with the brim of her black hat covering her face. As reporters walked away, she lifted a tissue to her face and sniffled, large sunglasses hiding her eyes.

Hardin continued leaning against a fence holding onto the sign attached to a wooden stick reading, "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus." She passed some of the time by pulling out her phone and texting, as cars drove by honking.

At 8:45 a.m., Hardin got back into the passenger's seat of a car and was driven away. She'll be back outside with her sign same time, same place Wednesday.

A judge sentenced Hardin to stand at the corner where she passed a bus by driving on the sidewalk from 7:45 to 8:45 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday wearing the 22-inch by 22-inch sign as part of her parole agreement.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District bus driver Uriah Herron is credited with getting video of Hardin going around the bus on the sidewalk as kids were loading and unloading.
