WAGONER COUNTY, OKLA- “Sidekick, partner, best friend.”
Everyday, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Underwood and his K-9, Edo, conquer crime together.
“Once we go to work it’s all business for him,” said Underwood.
Both taking risks, not knowing what situations they’ll get into.
“I send him in and not knowing who’s behind the next cornor, or hiding in a room for him,” said Underwood.
But now Edo and his fellow k-9, Max, have their own protective vests. Deputies said the vests weigh 4 to 5 pounds, protecting the K-9’s from bullets and from being stabbed.”
Underwood said luckily Edo hasn’t had any close calls during the line of duty, but said it’s reassuring knowing his sidekick is protected.
“His safety relies on me and my safety relies on him, so it keeps me on my toes,” said Underwood.
Deputies said a non-profit organization called Vested Interest in K-9’s, inc. donated the protective vests to the sheriff’s office.
