University of Oklahoma confirms running back Joe Mixon suspended for entire season

OKLAHOMA CITY – University of Oklahoma running back has been suspended for the duration of the upcoming season, according to university officials.

University of Oklahoma's President David Boren announced Monday that Joe Mixon will be suspended for the entire football season, but will be able to remain as a student at OU.

According to court documents, a misdemeanor charge of grossly disturbing the peace and public decency was filed against Mixon Friday.

Amelia Rae Molitor, 20, has accused the 5-star recruit of punching her in the face on July 25 and says she has four broken bones.

In the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the altercation between Mixon and Molitor stemmed from the use of a homosexual slur directed towards a friend of Molitor's.

According to the affidavit, Mixon's hearing is scheduled for August 29.
