SALLISAW, Okla. - Troopers are investigating the cause of a collision that left two people dead near Sallisaw in Sequoyah County.
Troopers say a 59-year-old man was driving westbound on I-40 just east of Sallisaw when his 2002 GMC Yukon left the roadway for an unknown reason, overcorrected and crossed the roadway before rolling over twice and striking a traffic sign.
Two people were thrown from the vehicle.
Ira Poindexter, 55, and Betty Gene Poindexter, 58, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and two other passengers were taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Investigators have not released the cause of the collision.
