Twenty-three people were killed in Moore and the spring storms caused an estimated $1 billion in damage. The May 20 tornado that struck Moore cut a 17-mile path of destruction and was classified as an EF5 tornado with winds that exceeded 200 mph.

The Norman Transcript reports the six-hour concert drew about 60,000 people to the University of Oklahoma's Memorial Stadium. Performers included Keith, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Willie Nelson, Ronnie Dunn and Mel Tillis.
