Three dead in separate fatality wrecks

TULSA - Separate accidents claimed the lives of three Oklahomans on Friday.

Highway patrol officials in Garfield County say a Dodge pickup driven by Robert Joseph Stonehocker, 29,  failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a car driven by 21-year-old Justin Christopher Bedwell.

Stonehocker was admitted to a local hospital in stable condition with head and internal injuries.  Bedwell was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A single-car accident in Carter County claimed the life of 37-year-old James Gunsolus of Ardmore.

Troopers say Gunsolus was driving northbound on U.S. Highway 77 near Springer, Okla., when his car left the roadway to the left, overcorrected, left the roadway to the right and struck a fence before hitting a steel utility pole.

Gunsolus died at the scene.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

A third wreck happened around 5:45 p.m. in Blaine County.

Troopers say a southbound car driven by Katy Lee Edingfield, 23, moved into the oncoming lane while attempting to pass a semi trailer on State Highway 51-A  near Southard, Okla.

The driver of a northbound car, 52-year-old Donal Paul Doyel, Jr.,  took evasive action, leaving the roadway to the right.

Highway patrol officials say Edingfield also took evasive action, leaving the roadway to the left and hitting the northbound car head-on.

Doyel was pronounced dead at the scene.  Edingfield was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

A passenger in Doyel's car was transported to the hospital in stable condition with head and leg injuries.
