POTEAU, Okla. (AP) -- Crews engrossed in a three-day search for a plane that disappeared while flying from Arkansas to Oklahoma uncovered the aircraft wreckage Thursday, along with the body of the 71-year-old pilot.

Efforts to recover the plane began Tuesday after the Federal Aviation Administration said 71-year-old Elmer Ray Broadbent and his Piper 28 aircraft disappeared while flying from Searcy to Elk City.

Search teams had primarily focused on a heavily wooded area portion of the Ouachita National Forest in LeFlore County where the plane went missing. According to the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office, the aircraft was found just inside the Pushmataha County line, southwest of LeFlore.
