Police report two tornado touch downs in Lawton, Oklahoma; damage to Goodyear tire plant reported

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Police in Lawton say two apparent tornadoes touched down on the edges of the southwest Oklahoma city.

A police dispatcher says there are no reports of injuries, but that a Goodyear tire plant in the city has undetermined damage as a result of the late Wednesday afternoon storm. The Comanche County emergency services director said he did not have time to talk.

Public Service Company of Oklahoma reported about 1,000 power outages in the Lawton area.

The National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings in southwestern Oklahoma counties as a strong storm system moved through the area Wednesday afternoon and early evening.

A tornado watch remains in effect for 51 of Oklahoma's 77 counties until 11 p.m. and hail from 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches has been reported in western Oklahoma.
