Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission reports third drowning this week on Illinois River

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Officials will continue the search today for the body of a man who officials say drowned in the Illinois River yesterday.

Xenepher Wiley Jr. was swimming with friends east of Tahlequah Friday afternoon when he went under and never resurfaced.

Ed Fite with the Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission says friends reportedly tried to rescue the 18-year-old but were unable to find him.

Crews searched until dark and resumed the search again this morning.
