Oklahoma City Indian Clinic gets $55,000 for wellness, exercise program

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An Oklahoma Indian clinic has received a $55,000 grant to provide wellness and exercise opportunities to American Indian families in the central part of the state.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma provided the grant to the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic.

The money will help fund Project POWER: Fitness. The program is intended to provide health education and recreation opportunities to Native Americans in central Oklahoma. The program currently includes programs like rock climbing, sports clinics and a garden club.

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic CEO Robyn Sunday-Allen says the clinic is honored to receive the grant. She says the money will help in developing more fitness programs for the American Indian families they serve.
