TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Clean-up efforts are under way at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah after a fluid spill Wednesday.
School officials say a contractor spilled hydraulic fluid from an elevator shaft sump pump in the University Center basement.
The fluid then spilled into a storm water drain.
Officials say the spill was immediately detected and contained and the Department of Environmental Quality, Tahlequah Fire Department and an emergency spill response unit were notified.
An area of approximately 400 yards from the southeast edge of campus to the northeast portion of the Town Branch was affected.
School officials say there have been no reports of contamination to the common water supply.
NSU officials will provide updates as they become available.
