Norman grassfire causes evacuations

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a grassfire that led to evacuations in a Norman neighborhood burned between 7 and 10 acres.

Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey says no structures were damaged in the Saturday fire in central Oklahoma.

Authorities asked residents in parts of the Summit Lakes neighborhood of Norman to evacuate, but The Norman Transcript says crisis was averted when firefighters responded quickly.

Authorities received a call about the blaze on Saturday afternoon and had the fire under control a short while later.

Investigators are trying to figure out how and where the fire started.
