Moore home survives May tornado, burns Friday

MOORE, Okla. - A  home that survived the May tornado in Moore went up in flames around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters say they were able to get the fire under could before it could spread to other homes.

"As you know, this is in the tornado-damaged area. The streets are a little harder to get through because everything's narrowed down," a fire department spokesman said.

Firefighters were not able to get into the house because of storm damage.  Crews took a defensive stance and had to use a giant ladder, spraying water on the flames from above.

Family members said they rode out he tornado in the home, where the owner has lived for four decades.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Officials are investigating the fire's cause.
