Judge will listen to Occupy OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY - A federal judge has scheduled a hearing for Occupy OKC protesters who want to stop Oklahoma City officials from evicting them from a small tent village they've set up at a downtown park.

The hearing is slated for Wednesday before U.S. District Judge Timothy DeGiusti. DeGiusti granted the Occupt group's request for a temporary restraining order to prohibit police from breaking up the camp until the hearing on a preliminary injunction.

Five Occupy OKC protesters filed a lawsuit in federal court on Thursday after city officials declined to renew the group's permit to stay in Kerr Park. The protesters have maintained a continuous presence at the park since Oct. 11, but police told them they would no longer be able to occupy the park from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
