Huge shale oil discovery made in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY - A huge shale oil supply was recently discovered in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City-based Continental Resources disclosed the find in a presentation to investors.

The company reports it may have found 1.8 billion barrels of oil equivalent.

The discovery is in the Anadarko Basin southwest of Oklahoma City in an area called "the SCOOP" (the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province).

Oil was first found in the area more than 100 years ago.

The company says the find is geographically similar to massive shale oil fields in North Dakota, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
