FAIRLAND , Okla . (AP) -- The GRDA Police Department says the body of a man missing since Wednesday has been recovered on Grand Lake.
Authorities say the body matches the description of a 32-year-old Mitchell Ray Cunningham, who was last seen when witnesses say he jumped off a boat dock at Twin Bridges State Park and did not resurface. Due to recent heavy rains, waters in that area were very swift at the time.
Several area fire and rescue departments had been searching for since that afternoon.
GRDA Police were notified by a private citizen Saturday morning about the body, which was recovered from a Grand Lake inlet near Sailboat Bridge; approximately 20 miles downstream from Twin Bridges State Park.
Based on today's recovery, the GRDA Police is discontinuing search operations. The body has been turned over to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office in Tulsa.
Thunderstorms dumped 6 to 12 inches of rain on northern Oklahoma earlier this week, causing flooding along the Caney, Neosho, Salt Fork and Verdigris rivers.
