ADAIR COUNTY, Okla. - After a little more than 24 hours on the run, a convicted killer who escaped from the Adair County jail is back in custody.
Carlos Locust, 25, turned himself in late Monday night, according to the Adair County Sheriff's Office.
Officials say Locust walked up to the jail and knocked on the door after deciding to surrender.
Locust and another inmate overpowered a jailer at the Stilwell jail Sunday night, officials say.
Locust's accomplice, Mark Pack, was captured three hours later.
Deputies spent several hours searching for Locust, concentrating much of their efforts on a mountain located near the jail.
