A documentary crew used to finding unusual and exotic creatures stumbled across an even more surprising discovery whilst filming one of their episodes.

The cast and crew of the Animal Planet show “River Monster” were in the middle of filming off the Australian coast when they found an island castaway.

“He had said his last prayer,” director Stephen Shearman told Inside Edition of the man, according to Huffington Post. “He was prepared to die and meet his maker.”

Shearman went on to say that they located the man on what appeared to be a large and uninhabited island. He was near the shore and shouting for them to bring him something to drink.

Ironically, according to Huffington Post, the crew was actually joking about finding Tom Hanks wandering on the island like in the movie “Castaway” when they noticed the actual man on the island.

“This guy with no clothes was running out of the cave, waving his arms out,” he recounted.

After bringing the man aboard, they learned that he was a local hobby fisherman named Termini. Termini reportedly left his boat to look for oysters and it floated away.

Huffington Post writes that Termini told his rescue crew that he had been on the island for an estimate of 60 hours without water or supplies.
