The Tulsa ordinance allowing residents to stop door-to-door sales.
TULSA - Posting signs and even the time of day gives residents more control over who can try to sell goods and services at their homes.
Posting a "No Soliciting" or "No Trespassing" sign bans salespeople from knocking on your door.
Thanks to the new city ordinance even if you don't post a sign it's illegal for a solicitor to do business in a residential neighborhood except for the hours between 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If a company isn't following the rules, a city spokesperson says call the police non-emergency number, (918) 596- 9222.
A salesperson who breaks the rules faces a $1,200 fine and up to six months in jail.
