TULSA - Susan Haring was desperate for help.
Her son needed a tooth pulled and needed it fast. But with no insurance she couldn't afford a regular doctor's visit so she contacted the 2NEWS Problem Solvers.
We found locations across the state that offer free or reduced price dental work. Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation has list of locations for each part of the state.
Susan took her son to Blessed Mother Teresa Dental Center in Tulsa. The first three Tuesdays of each month the center accepts walk-in patients, however a limited number of patients will be seen.
"There are people out there that really need this."
Unfortunately Susan's son's name did not get drawn this time but there are other options.
In August, RAM Oklahoma will conduct a free health care expedition August 16 and 17 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The two-day event will provide free medical, dental and vision care to Oklahomans in need.
Local dentists and healthcare providers realize the need for more free dental options for residents. That's why a new group called the Tulsa Oral Health Commission is being formed.
The group plans to create a detailed plan for improving the delivery and quality of dental care to low-income and uninsured patients.
