COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police chasing a stolen moving truck in Colorado Springs early Monday morning were surprised when the passenger door opened and someone suddenly jumped out.
Officer Sandor Csikesz said he was on patrol at 3 a.m. when he tried to stop a suspicious truck for a traffic violation.
When the truck didn't stop, Csikesz said he and another officer started chasing the truck. During the pursuit, officers said they learned the truck had been stolen.
About two miles later, officers said a passenger suddenly jumped out of the truck.
"The passenger was detained and the pursuit was terminated shortly after that," Colorado Springs police said on their website. "The passenger was identified but released without charges."
Shortly after that, another officer said he spotted the truck 2.5 miles away but he lost the vehicle.
Colorado Springs police said the truck was found a few minutes later. However, the driver was gone.
