Jimmy Strader will be remembered as an incredible bass player with an even more impressive singing voice. Strader was also talented on the guitar.
His career began in the Tulsa area in the late 60's and he is known as a legendary bass player.
He played with many popular bands including the Sweeny-Campbell Band, Bruner-Strader Blues Project, The Mystery Band, Bill Davis Band, The Shakers and Lightyear.
Strader had previously battled cancer. He died in an area hospital the morning of Monday May 4, 2009 after a prolonged illness and infection.
Friends say Strader was 54.
Fellow musicians and fans remember Strader as a gentle, kind person who will be missed by many.
Services are schedule for 4pm, Friday May 8, 2009 at All Souls Unitarian in Tulsa.
