Little fairies and monsters may have knocked on your door Saturday night, asking for candy, but one Tulsa family is asking for help to scare away hunger.

The Darling family is asking for canned goods. They were forced into a shelter during the December 2007 ice storm and wanted to give back for all the meals they were fed while there.

For the second year in a row, they are collecting canned goods, and donating them to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

"A child that is not hungry helping a child that is hungry, is a very admirable thing," said Cindy Stevens, with the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

"We remember the church leaders being so grateful to us and providing us somewhere to stay and three meals a day," said mom Nancy Darling.

The Darling family hopes to turn any candy they get over to a local dentist for cash.

They will deliver the cash and all the canned goods to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma on Friday, November 6th.
