If you are making plans for holiday shopping this weekend, Tulsa police have a warning for you. Parking lot thefts are on the rise.
Just in the past month, there have been nearly 100 robberies and burglaries, many of them in parking lots.
Recently 12 women reported purse snatchings in Tulsa.
Officers recommend you carry little to no cash on you. They say it's best to keep belongings in your front pockets, and if you do have a purse, carry it close.
If you are approached, they say, draw attention to yourself.
"Always remember, your property is not worth your life so if there is an individual there that is threatening you and they have a gun, do not try to put up a fight with individuals like that," said Officer Leland Ashley.
Police caution, thieves are looking for people on cell phones, or not paying attention to their surroundings.
They target cars with items in the seat or out in the open.
