Jenks voters are heading out to the polls Tuesday. There are four propositions on the ballot and for some voters, there's a school board seat up for grabs.
All of the propositions will increase taxes in some way but city leaders say all of the propositions will dramatically improve city services.
The first proposition is a $5.2 million bond issue. It would provide local funding to three federally funded road projects, including one that will widen Main Street from Highway 75 to Elm Street.
There's also a $1.5 million bond issue to improve the police department facilities.
The bond issues would increase property taxes.
Proposition three will mean $3.8 million in funding for sewer improvements and new fire trucks and equipment. It would require an increased sales tax of 3/4 of a penny.
In order for improvements in proposition three to happen, the fourth must pass because it asks voters to approve the increased the sales tax.
Jenks leaders say these changes are important to the city's continued growth.
"You know you have to look at, we've been the fastest growing community in the state of Oklahoma, we've grown 66% and it's just demands on our infrastructure," said Jenks Mayor, Vic Vreeland.
Also on the ballot, the school board seat in District 5, Brian Brumble is taking on incumbent Chuck Forbes.
The polls close are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
