Oklahoma Blood Institute Tulsa Center officials say their offices will remain open on Tuesday to take blood donations. They encourage healthy members of the community who are 17 or older to donate as long as roads are safe for travel. The OBI announced a shortage of O type blood – both O positive and O negative.

“Dangerous weather conditions not only create an increased need for life-saving blood, it also makes donating blood difficult,” said James W. Smith, M.D., medical director, Oklahoma Blood Institute. “These times create a situation where the demand for blood strains our supply.”

The Oklahoma Blood Institute is located on 81st St., just west of Yale.

Business hours are:
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – 8:30am to 6:00pm
  • Wednesday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
  • Saturday – 8:00am to 12:00pm

Other locations are also available to donate:
  • Edmond, 3409 S. Broadway
  • Midwest City, 1113 S. Douglas
  • Oklahoma City, 5105 N. Portland
  • Oklahoma City, 1001 N. Lincoln Blvd.
  • Norman, 1004 24th Ave. N.W.
  • Ada, 1930 Stonecipher Blvd.
  • Ardmore, 1420 Veterans Blvd.
