The Oklahoma Department of Transportation warns drivers to anticipate heavy traffic on I-35 and US-69 south into Texas. ODOT offers the following tips:
- Plan your trip ahead of time
- Avoid traveling at peak travel times, stagger your departure
- Leave plenty of time to reach your destination
- Expect delays
- Take an alternate route, if possible
- Minimize distractions
Here are a list of statewide highway projects that could affect your travel plans:
- All lanes of north and southbound I-35 will be open from Norman to the Texas state line, however expect heavy traffic.
- All lanes of southbound US-69 are NOW OPEN from Calera (south of Durant) to the Red River.
- Northbound US-69 is narrowed to one lane from just south of Eufaula north two miles.
- I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Braman and Blackwell in Kay County for reconstruction.
- I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction north of US-64 (north of Perry) in Noble County for cable barrier installation.
- I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction east of SH-2 near Webbers Falls in Muskogee County for reconstruction and cable barrier installation. Motorists should expect various lane closures at the Arkansas River.
- East and westbound I-40 are narrowed to one lane between Cromwell and Seminole.
- I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near Sayre for resurfacing and cable barrier installation.
- I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near Clinton for cable barrier installation.
