There's a new tool in town for parents to learn better parenting skills.

Family and Children's Services in Tulsa has a new group of state-of-the art classes.

The Tulsa Foundation stepped in with a grant to make the new parenting program possible.

The money is going towards videos, books, work-books, and teacher training.

There will be four classes available. One that focuses on infants, one for parents of 1 to 4 year olds. Another that focuses on ages 5 to 12 and another for teens.

Officials with Family and Children's Services say it's always been their goal to have parenting resources available for the community. This grant allows them to update their current programs with the latest technology and research available.

Anyone in the community is encouraged to take part

"This is just that update to take in all that new information because we want our community, we want our parents to have everything they need to do the best job they can to raise their kids," said Claudia Arthrell, the director of professional services at Family and Children's Services.

Two of the classes started on Monday night, two more will start on Tuesday night. The classes run six weeks and you can join in anytime.
