There's new information about a story 2NEWS has been following since October.
The case involves a local builder accused of swindling several families out of thousands of dollars.
On Tuesday, a judge appointed someone to take control of the man's company.
Carl and Sandy Wortham say their dream home has turned into a nightmare, "My wife and I designed this house and it was going to be our retirement home. There's good chances that may not happen."
Wortham and dozens of other area families say their builder, Grant Cole stopped paying the contractors.
Cole had been operating under the name Oklahoma New Homes and Xite Homes.
"Some of the folks are getting foreclosed on, myself included," Wortham says those unpaid workers have filed $67-thousand in liens on his quarter-million dollar property.
"They're all just trying to move on with their lives," Gabe Lawson represents eleven of the families, including the Worthams.
On Tuesday, Lawson received word that a judge has appointed what's called a receiver, "The receiver's job is to take over Oklahoma New Homes, search for any assets that may be out there and potential distribute them to the affected parties."
Lawson says one of those affected parties includes the original owner of Xite Homes.
He says Cole never paid thousands of dollars for the naming rights.
Even though a lawsuit has been filed and FBI agents are working the case, many wonder if they'll ever see any of their money again.
"There's a lot of vendors hurt, there's a lot of families hurt, a lot of money that's at stake here and everybody's dreams," Wortham said.
Cole has not returned any messages left by 2NEWS.
