Music memories alive in Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa

Last Update: 7/02 7:10 pm
A local hotel and casino is striking a new chord with music lovers.  The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa is open.

The $125-Million casino is built but officials say it wouldn't be a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino without about $2-million in music memorabilia.

From John Legend to Mariah Carey, the new displays complete the look casino leaders were hoping for.

Warwick Stone has been collecting priceless pieces since the 80's.
He's in charge of keeping all music memorabilia in good shape and is setting up shop in Catoosa.

"Actually meeting the people in Oklahoma, it's been a fun bunch of people to work with," said Stone.

Cherokee Casino leaders are glad to have him.

"August 3rd will be our official grand opening, but August the 1st, we will answer the phone Hard Rock Tulsa," said CEO David Stewart.

Stewart says the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel is the perfect addition to the current site and describes it as a mini vacation spot.

"They can get a little bit of Vegas, they can get a lottle bit of Rock and Roll, a lot of entertainment, and good food.  When you shut the doors behind you when you come here, you can stay for a pretty long time, and feel like you are away from home," said Stewart.

Lights are bright for items from the Spice Girls, to Prince, and Elvis.  All are placed in air tight casing.

Where there is a bet being made, Stone says, somewhere, there's music being played.

"We are talking about the history of rock and roll.  It never gets old for me," said Stone.

There are 7 Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's world wide. Officials in Catoosa say the music memorabilia gets changed out between casinos about every 2 years.
