Man killed in accident in Tulsa construction zone

Last Update: 4/09/2008 8:56 am
One man is dead and another person injured after a vehicle slams into a construction vehicle and hits another car.

Around 11 p.m. Tuesday, Tulsa police say a black Dodge Neon was driving about 80 mph through the construction zone on northbound Highway 169 just north of 31st Street.

The Neon hit the back of a construction vehicle and spun it around 180 degrees. A Ford Taurus then clipped the corner of the construction vehicle and swerved into the center wall.

EMSA pronounced the driver of the Neon dead at the scene. The driver of the Taurus was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No one was inside the construction vehicle.

Ironically, this is Work Zone Awareness Week with "Slow For The Cone" as the theme.

Make sure "Making Work Pay" works for you
Most workers noticed the small increase in their take home pay last year, because of what's called the Making Work Pay Tax Credit. The tax withheld each pay period was reduced. And now that it's time to file your 2009 tax return, you need to pay special attention to that tax credit.
