The holidays are a perfect time to think of helping others. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation works year-round, but set aside time this weekend to help those in need.
Sunday, JDRF held its 2nd annual "Christmas Hope House" holiday extravaganza. The benefit was complete with horse and carriage rides, holiday gifts for sale and photos with Santa. All proceeds from the benefit go to local research.
"All the money raised stays in Tulsa and goes to our research facility," said Barb Drotar, Chairman for the Hope House for JDRF in Tulsa.
According to its Web site, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1970 by parents of children with Type 1 Diabetes. Their mission is to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
Drotar says that those with the disease are insulin dependent and can have complications throughout their life.
"Hopefully we are going to get to a cure soon."
