"Fix Our Streets" projects in Tulsa gaining speed

Last Update: 8/25/2009 5:51 pm
3 large road construction projects are about to get started in Tulsa.  Each will be paid for for with "Fix Our Streets" dollars.

The 3rd penny sales tax plan, which was passed in November, is paving the way for road resurfacing and widening on 51st between Garnett and 129th, Mohawk Boulevard between Cincinnati and Garrison, and 111th between Sheridan and Yale.  Each project will likely start sometime in September.

The funding is in place for each project, as well as funding for the designs of 31 others.

"We are aware there is a need there and street maintenance is required and it is satisfying to see that funding is required and we are able to see those improvements," said Design Engineering Manager Henry Som De Cerff.

Crews are making progress on a new waterline going in on Lewis between 36th and 41st streets.  2005 bond money is paying for it.

Crews are widening the street 18 inches and resurfacing the road while they have it torn apart.

They'll continue on 41st to Riverside, and hope to be complete with the $4.9 million dollar project by April of 2011.
