More money may be spent on mowing and graffiti clean-up in Tulsa.

The trash collection department has a surplus of nearly a million dollars; Mayor Kathy Taylor wants to use the money for extra mowing and graffiti removal.

Both services were scaled back in this new budget, which started Wednesday.

Right now, there are only two people cleaning up graffiti.

The extra money would help create two additional temporary positions; they'd be on for 12-months.

"We could definitely use more crews. I'd like to have a crew in ever quadrant of the city that would help us really keep up on it," Street Maintenance Manager Darren Stefanek said.

City Councilors will have the final say as to what the surplus will be used for.

Councilor Bill Martinson says he has serious concerns about money which was collected for one purpose and used for another.
