TULSA - Tulsa Police have identified the woman found dead in the driver's seat of a car near a north Tulsa church.
Marshay Marisha Wesson, 19, was found in the car outside of Berean Missionary Church, near 28th Street North and North Wheeling Avenue. A passerby called 911 around 7:40 Monday morning.
Police tell 2News Wesson was pregnant.
Investigators say the woman was shot. Not much else is known as officers look further into her death.
"Everything appeared as if she had stopped there and parked to meet with someone or talk. It's kind of a remote area, where that's what you would do if you were to have a conversation," said Sgt. Dave Walker.
Detectives aren't sure exactly what time she was gunned down. They have no solid leads or suspects.
Walker believes Wesson left her Sands Springs home Sunday night around 10 or 11 p.m. to meet someone in Tulsa.
Just hours before she died, everything seemed to be going well.
She posted this on her Facebook page:
"I have every reason to smile...i have a wonderful daughter whos love is like no other she is the best...i start school june 12....ill soon have a wonderful son...i have my own car n place to stay...!!! Its all jus good lol ;) "
According to her Facebook page, Wesson attended McLain and Union high schools. She was pregnant and expecting a son in July. She also had a young daughter.
Walker expects the killer would face double homicide charges.
As they search for a suspect, police have reached out to those who knew Wesson the best.
"So we go to the closest people. And we realize that life has changed for them forever. And the fact that she was so close to giving birth to another human being, doesn't make it any easier," Walker said.
If you have any tips about Wesson's whereabouts Sunday night or Monday morning, you can report them anonymously by calling 918-596-COPS.
