TULSA -- Police arrested a woman after they said she stabbed her boyfriend with scissors during a fight, then tried to burn down their apartment.

Carissa Marie Coburn, 42, is now facing charges of domestic assault with a deadly weapon as well as first degree arson.

Police said they responded at about midnight Monday to an apartment building near 21st Street and South 145th East Avenue. They found a man with multiple stab wounds, who said he and Coburn had been drinking and got into a fight when they came home.

Police said Coburn allegedly stabbed her boyfriend several times with scissors in the arms, torso and back. Paramedics took the man to the hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

Police said they kept trying to get in contact with Coburn inside her apartment, and they finally had to step in and act when they saw what she was doing inside.

"The officer standing outside could see inside the sliding glass patio door," Sgt. Darren Bristow said. "After two to three minutes of knocking, the officer advised she was setting a fire inside the apartment. We went around and looked through the window. She had a pile of clothes, a blanket and a quilt piled up near the entry of the doorway. It was on fire. She was squirting lighter fluid on the fire to get it going."

Sgt. Bristow said officers finally got into the apartment, removed Coburn and used their own fire extinguishers to put out the flames.

The Tulsa Fire Department also responded and made sure the fire was completely out. No other damage was reported to any of the apartments.

The male victim, police said, is now recovering from his injuries in the hospital.
