Water main bursts near University of Tulsa campus

TULSA - Workers with the city of Tulsa's water department say road damage from a water main break could take up to a week to repair.

Old pipes led to a break of a 16-inch break underneath Harvard Avenue, according to the officials, which caused severe damage to the road, as well as a nearby storm drain and traffic light.

Water distribution manager Rick Caruthers said the break happened Wednesday and originally affected 15-20 residents but water was restored Thursday for all customers.

Workers estimated the break might be repaired by Friday morning but say the road damages may take 5-7 days.

No customers are out of water, according to department officials, but traffic has been backed up in the area due to lane closures.
