Wagoner Co. deputies join kids trick-or-treating

WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. - Deputies took to the streets by foot in Wagoner County to make sure kids stayed safe trick-or-treating on Halloween night.

Sheriff Bob Colbert's on a mission to keep kids safe.

On Halloween night, a team of 10 deputies split up and hit county neighborhoods on foot. Colbert said it added manpower to the patrol units already out there.

Parents are happy to have the company.

"It's great that they're in our neighborhood, just making sure nothing happens, and it's a security blanket for us. Just as a parent, making sure there's somebody else besides us looking out for our kids. That's awesome to hear," said Jodi Chronister.

"They like to see us out here. It's a fun night, but it can be a dangerous night. So hopefully we're out here to curb that," Colbert said.

The sheriff says deputies can see and hear more when they hit the streets on foot.

"We want them to have fun, we want them to have a safe night," Colbert said.

Deputies say they haven't had any problems on Halloween night in the past. They tried out this initiative to keep it that way.
